What is Ortho Tri-Cyclen?
Ortho Tri-Cyclen is a combination of estrogen and progestogen that is used to prevent pregnancy. Ortho Tri-Cyclen can also be used to regulate the menstrual cycle, treatment of menopausal symptoms and other indications, as determined by your doctor.

Synopsis: Introduced in 1992, Ortho Tri-Cyclen is the only oral contraceptive approved in the United States for the treatment of moderate acne in women 15 years or older who have no known contraindications to oral contraceptive therapy, who wish to contraceptive treatment, who have started menstruation and who do not respond to topical treatments for acne.
There are many benefits associated with the use of oral contraceptives like Ortho Tri-Cyclen, including the reduction of colic, most menstrual regularity and decreased menstrual flow. Furthermore, the use of the Ortho Tri-Cyclenpill can decrease the incidence of acute pelvic inflammatory disease, a condition that if untreated can cause infertility. People who use the Ortho Tri-Cyclen pill may also experience lower incidence of iron deficiency anemia and ectopic pregnancies. Contraceptive use does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS.

HOW TO USE Ortho Tri-Cyclen:
For use of Ortho Tri-Cyclen follow the advice of your doctor. The Ortho Tri-Cyclen product comes with instructions for use. Read carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse or pharmacist about any questions related to the drug. Try to take it every day at the same time and at intervals not longer than 24 hours. Store at room temperature away from moisture and light.
SIDE EFFECTS of Ortho Tri-Cyclen:
Side effects, that may go away during treatment, include nausea, vomiting, bleeding between periods, breast engorgement or weight changes. If they persist or become bothersome, consult a physician. Report as soon as possible to your doctor about any unusual vaginal bleeding, persistent or recurrent lack of a menstrual period, dizziness or fainting, swelling of fingers or ankles, headache, or difficulty with contact lenses. Tell your doctor immediately if you have severe pain or tightness in the chest, sudden shortness of breath, sudden pain in the head or legs, yellowing of skin or eyes, changes in vision, numbness of an arm or leg or acute abdominal pain. If symptoms not listed, talk to your doctor, nurse or pharmacist.
Ortho Tri-Cyclen PRECAUTIONS:
The use of snuff when taking this medicine Ortho Tri-Cyclen may increase the chance of stroke, heart attack, blood clots, high blood pressure and other heart or blood vessels. If for any reason you have vomiting or diarrhea, the medicine may not work properly. Taking certain antibiotics or anticonvulsants may decrease the effectiveness of the Ortho Tri-Cyclen drug. To prevent pregnancy, use in these cases some other form of contraception until the next menstrual period. If in doubt, consult your doctor, nurse or pharmacist. Before taking any medical and dental treatment, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medication. If you wear contact lenses and have problems with them, see your doctor. Before starting any new medicine, either prescription or nonprescription, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This medication may cause the appearance of dark spots on the face, which become even darker with sun exposure. If so, use a sunscreen and protective clothing when exposed to sunlight, sunlamps or tanning beds. Use of this contraception does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases. If you are pregnant, do not use this medication. If you suspect pregnancy, consult your doctor immediately. The Ortho Tri-Cyclen drug is excreted in breast milk. If you are breastfeeding or plan to do while using Ortho Tri-Cyclen, consult your doctor or pharmacist about the possible risks to your baby.
Ortho Tri-Cyclen DRUG INTERACTIONS:
There are medications or health situations that may interact with this drug. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any prescription or nonprescription use. If you are taking nevirapine or rifampin, do not take Ortho Tri-Cyclen medication. If you are taking barbiturates, carvedilol, corticosteroids, felbamate, griseofulvin, HIV protease inhibitors, modafinil, metoprolol, pioglitazone, penicillin or tetracycline antibiotics, theophylline, topiramate, troglitazone, troleandomycin or treatments for seizures, may require additional monitoring of your dose . Tell your doctor about any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy or lactation. It is not advisable to use this medication if you have had cancer, heart disease, liver disease, pulmonary embolism, blood clots, stroke, or if you are a smoker. If you have questions about this medicine, consult your doctor.
Ortho Tri-Cyclen FORGOTTEN DOSE:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember and take the next dose according to plan. This means that it could take two doses on the same day. If you miss more than one dose of Ortho Tri-Cyclen, the information that comes with the product. If in doubt, consult a doctor, nurse or pharmacist.
Ortho Tri-Cyclen OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, immediately contact the local poison control center or emergency room. Symptoms of overdose may include restlessness, tremor, rapid breathing, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal cramps.
